Thank you to everyone who was able to attend TFLA's Annual Fall Conference this fall.

See the press release below for a recap.

RICHARDSON, TX – October 26, 2025 – The Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) successfully concluded its highly anticipated Annual Fall Conference on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Richardson, Texas. The two-day event, held from October 24-25, drew over two hundred dedicated world language educators committed to advancing and improving language instruction across the state.

The conference provided attendees with a schedule of sessions focused on actionable classroom strategies. Teachers left the event equipped with new pedagogical techniques and tools they can immediately implement to enhance student engagement and proficiency outcomes.

A major highlight of the conference was the powerful keynote address delivered by Ashli Sambaluk, TFLA’s 2024 Administrator of the Year who currently serves as the World Language Coordinator in Lewisville ISD. Sambaluk captivated the audience by sharing her personal journey as a language learner and provided attendees with high-impact strategies for engaging students and fostering a lifelong passion for languages.

The Annual Awards Ceremony celebrated excellence in the world language community with the presentation of two major accolades:

  • 2025 Teacher of the Year: Lisa Yates from Copperas Cove ISD

  • 2025 Administrator of the Year: Andreína Russell from Frisco ISD

“This conference is a vital hub for innovation, allowing our incredible educators to collaborate and bring fresh, effective teaching methods back to their classrooms,” said a TFLA spokesperson. “We are especially proud to honor Lisa Yates and Andreína Russell, whose commitment to language education exemplifies the best of Texas teaching and leadership.”

TFLA  invites all educators to continue their professional development journey at the upcoming Summer Institutes and encourages participation in the national conversation by joining us at the ACTFL Annual Convention and World Languages Expo in San Antonio next fall.
