TFLA's Cancellation Policy

We are so thankful for your interest in this TFLA event!  Because of costs associated with preparation for an event, TFLA is unable to process refunds within 30 days of the start of an event. In some cases, registration may be transferred to another individual. If there are extenuating circumstances that you feel we should consider, please email Elisabeth Howell at executivedirector@tfla.org

For those who have registered but not fully paid, failure to cancel registration before the 30 days prior to an event serves as your commitment to pay. Failure to pay a registration fee within 30-days of an event, even if you do not attend, is considered a "late cancellation", and your account will have an outstanding bill. You may be blocked from registering for another event until that outstanding bill has been paid.

TFLA is a non-profit organization, here to serve LOTE educators in Texas. Thank you for your support!

2024 Texas World Language Teachers Attend the Annual Fall Conference

The Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) hosted its Annual Fall Conference (AFC) in Sugar Land, TX on October 18-19, drawing about 250 attendees from across the state. The event featured 20 vendors showcasing educational tools, language resources, and classroom innovations. Attendees participated in raffles offering various prizes.  The heart of the conference was the series of 50-minute professional learning sessions designed specifically for world language teachers, such as how to leverage AI in the world language classroom and best teaching practice for students with learning differences. Participants could earn up to 12 hours of professional learning credit.  The conference also celebrated excellence in the field, presenting several prestigious awards. Ashli Sambaluk was recognized as Administrator of the Year, Laura Shaw received Teacher of the Year, and Anu Daniel was honored as Friend of the Profession of the Year. The leadership team highlighted the association’s commitment to supporting language education. During the conference, the Executive Board announced the election of Pamela Carrillo as President-Elect, Ashley Watson-Fears as Member-at-Large, and Kariluz Acevedo as Vice-President.  This gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for language educators to connect, collaborate, and grow, strengthening their teaching skills and building community within the profession. TFLA invites everyone to attend the Annual Fall Conference in the DFW area in 2025.
